Counselling & Supervision

Counselling

Our approach to counselling is to build, consolidate and nurture socioemotional skills within a therapeutic environment. Our therapeutic interventions are designed to be targeted and goal orientated. We work within a developmental/neurodevelopmental, child-centred and strengths-based framework.

We work with young people and their parents to build, develop, and support socioemotional skills and general wellbeing. This may include interventions to assist with:

  • Emotional regulation
  • Anxiety
  • Anger
  • Social challenges, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Exploration of neurotypes (e.g. neurodivergence such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia), and development of self-concept
  • Self-awareness, confidence, and building resilience.

Our counselling services are suited to:

  • Children who want to build or improve their psychological and socio-emotional skills within a therapeutic environment.
  • Neurodivergent children (and their parents) who want to explore and understand their neurotype.
  • Parents/carers who need coaching or support, and a safe space to explore, discuss and manage their child’s challenges, and family or academic functioning.
  • Parents/carers who are supportive of therapy and are able and willing to work together (where appropriate) in the best interests of the young person.

Counselling Fees

  • Clinical Psychologist $220
  • Psychologist $180

Psychology services can be accessed either privately or through a referral provided by a medical professional, such as a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist under the Medicare Better Access Program (rebate of $141.85 per session with a clinical psychologist).

With a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist you may be eligible for up to 10 Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year. The rebate can be accessed by submitting a claim online with Medicare.

Counselling services can also be accessed privately without the need for a referral.

Fees for services that are being paid for through a third party (e.g. NDIS) will be charged at the recommended rates for that third party.

Some private health funds may provide a partial rebate for sessions. Please consult with your health fund provider to find out more.

    Late Cancellation Policy and Fees

Please note that we need to receive at least 24 hours notice of non-attendance, otherwise a late-cancellation fee will be charged. Late cancellation fees are not charged in exceptional circumstances.

    • Cancellations within 24 hours will incur a full fee charge for that appointment.
    • Failure to attend an appointment will incur a full fee charge for that appointment.

*NDIS clients will pay a cancellation fee in line with the NDIS guidelines.

Multiple late cancellations or failure to attend appointments will prompt a review of your engagement with the service and you may be moved to a waitlist for an available appointment.

Please note we are not a bulk billing practice.
